Strateligent’s Aaron Hautala Appeared on MSNBC Your Business Program

Aaron Hautala, creative director and owner of Strateligent, recently appeared on MSNBC’s national news program, “Your Business.”
MSNBC contacted Hautala to provide marketing and branding advice for Bushel and Peck’s—a company owned by Jackie Gennett, located in Beloit, Wisc. The eclectic space of Bushel and Peck’s includes a restaurant, artisan-craft grocery, bookstore, plant nursery, and wine shop—all under one roof.
“The producers of ‘Your Business’ asked me to provide marketing advice regarding the customer experience of Bushel and Peck’s in-store and online venues,” said Hautala. “Initially, in looking at the indoor market space with all their choices for products and foods, it was hard for the customer to know where to go.”
One way Hautala revealed that the company can sharpen their brand image is to be consistent in everything they do—from tasteful signage directing customers in how to navigate the store to order food or purchase market items, to replicating the storefront’s signature canopy in all their locations. It was also important to maintain its identity as an artisan grocery with roots in the farmer’s market.
“In examining the store and its history, I focused on a slight color and logo evolution for better brand unity,” said Hautala. “I also aligned their identity and story with purposeful words and imagery, such as their tagline—‘Food you love from people you know.’”
Additional suggestions by Hautala included better-utilizing and coordinating their entrances to maximize the customer experience on entering or exiting the building.
“Providing marketing advice for Bushel and Peck’s on MSNBC was a microcosm of how we communicate with purpose for our clients,” said Hautala, “from healthcare to manufacturing, recreation, local government, financial markets, or environmental agencies. We focus on their ‘strategic growth through intelligent design’ every day.”
